The Day I Realized Healthcare Wasn’t About Health (So I Left)

Can I be honest with you?

When I first chose medicine, it was simple: I loved helping people and solving problems. I imagined long conversations with patients, uncovering the “why” behind their symptoms, and guiding them toward lasting health. But the reality of traditional medicine didn’t look like that.

Patients came in with three or four concerns, and I had just 15 minutes. That meant choosing between your fatigue, your sleep struggles, your intimacy concerns—or rushing through all of them and leaving you waiting in a crowded lobby while I fell further behind.

And the in-between time? Messages filtered through layers of portals, staff, and red tape. Even when I wanted to connect, the system made it nearly impossible.

The Moment That Changed Everything

Then came the patient who tipped the scale.

They came in with a condition that had become dangerously advanced. When I asked why they waited so long, they admitted they had tried. They’d called on a Friday, but my schedule was full. They were told to go to the ER, but didn’t think it was “serious enough.” The earliest they could see me was two weeks later.

By then, it was serious. My heart dropped.
Not because the patient had done something wrong, but because the system had failed them—and I was part of that system.

That was the day I knew: Medicine needed to change.

Building Something Different

Primary care should be your first defense, your trusted entryway into medicine. It should be personal, accessible, and rooted in a real relationship. That’s why I left traditional medicine and opened Arbor Internal Medicine—built on a Direct Primary Care (DPC) model.

Here’s what that means for you:

  • Access without barriers. You can reach me directly. No waiting 2–4 weeks. No endless phone tag with staff.

  • Time to truly listen. Appointments aren’t 15 minutes. They’re long enough to unpack the fatigue, belly fat, sleep struggles, intimacy issues—and still have time for questions.

  • Personalized care. Whether we’re talking hormones, metabolism, or lifestyle changes, we build a plan that fits you—not a generic checkbox list.

  • Prevention, not just reaction. We don’t wait for emergencies. We anticipate, adjust, and prioritize your long-term health.

Why This Matters for You

I know you’re tired of hearing “your labs are fine” when you still don’t feel like yourself. You’re tired of bouncing between specialists, or worse—Googling at 2 a.m. hoping to find answers.

Here’s the truth: you deserve more than band-aids. You deserve a doctor who has time for you, who sees the whole picture, and who believes that vibrant, confident version of yourself is still there—waiting to come alive again.

Two Years Later: Gratitude and Vision

This month, my practice turned two years old. Every patient who has walked through our doors, texted me late at night, or trusted me with their health—you’ve made this dream possible.

You’ve proven that patients are ready for a better way. You’ve proven that medicine can be both science-backed and deeply human.

My hope is to continue leading the change, one patient at a time.
